Joy for the morning
"It is good to proclaim your loving kindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night."
Psalm 92:2
New Here? Welcome.
Abide begins with today's Daily Pause but it is more than a daily devotion. Our desire is simple: to bless people with Scripture shaped encouragement and help them turn their hearts toward Christ. Wherever you are in the world, you are welcome to read, pause, pray and take the next quiet step with the Lord. Begin with today's Pause, follow the 28 day Series Guide or explore the wider Abide library when you are ready.
Mercy in the morning
Lamentations 3:22-23 (WEB)
It is because of God’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because His compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness.
Today's Focus: I will begin today from God’s mercy rather than yesterday’s weight.
Your Daily Pause
A short daily starting point for Scripture, reflection and prayer.
Reflection
You may wake with yesterday already sitting on your chest. Before the day has even found its shape, regret, pressure or unfinished worry can begin speaking. Lamentations does not ask you to pretend the weight is not real. It gives you a better first word for the morning: mercy. God does not ask you to begin the day by pretending none of that exists. He gives you something better than pretending. He gives mercy. His mercies are not leftovers from yesterday. They are not thin scraps handed out to people who have nearly worn out His patience. They are new every morning because His faithfulness does not run dry. This does not mean every problem is solved by breakfast. It means the day begins under God’s faithful care. You are not consumed because His compassion does not fail. That is stronger than mood, stronger than circumstance and stronger than the accusing voice that says you have used up your welcome. Mercy in the morning changes the way you step into the day. You do not have to carry yesterday as though it were your master. You do not have to earn God’s kindness before you can pray. You do not have to prove yourself before you can come near. The Lord is already faithful before you have managed one faithful thought. Begin here. Before productivity, before worry, before self-correction and before the world starts shouting, remember the mercy of God. You are not held together by your own consistency. You are held by His. Carry this today: Begin the day by naming one mercy from God before naming your pressures.
Prayer
Faithful God, thank You that Your mercies are new this morning. I confess that I often begin the day listening to worry, regret or pressure instead of listening to Your compassion. Remind me that I am not consumed because Your love has not failed. Help me receive today from Your hand. Give me a steady heart, a humble spirit and fresh trust in Your faithfulness. Teach me to walk forward with gratitude rather than fear. Amen.
