Joy for the morning
"It is good to proclaim your loving kindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night."
Psalm 92:2
New Here? Welcome.
Abide begins with today's Daily Pause but it is more than a daily devotion. Our desire is simple: to bless people with Scripture shaped encouragement and help them turn their hearts toward Christ. Wherever you are in the world, you are welcome to read, pause, pray and take the next quiet step with the Lord. Begin with today's Pause, follow the 28 day Series Guide or explore the wider Abide library when you are ready.
Love Starts Here
1 John 4:7-10 (WEB)
7 Beloved, let’s love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves has been born of God, and knows God. 8 He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love. 9 By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Today's Focus: God loved first, and His love reshapes mine.
Your Daily Pause
A short daily starting point for Scripture, reflection and prayer.
Reflection
Love does not begin with my effort, my mood, or my performance. It begins with God. John is blunt, love is from God and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. That means real love is not a trick of personality, it is evidence of new life. When I am cold, sharp, impatient, or self-protective, the problem is not that I need a pep talk, it is that I need to come back to the Source. God’s love is not vague sentiment. It is concrete, He sent His Son into the world so we might live through Him. The cross is the definition of love, not a greeting card, not a feeling, not a passing high. So today I do not start by measuring my love, I start by receiving His. As I abide in that love, it begins to spill out of me in quieter words, steadier patience, and real mercy.
Prayer
Father, thank You that You loved first and You loved truly. Help me abide in Your love today so my love for others becomes real and Christlike. Amen
